The Science of Classic Monsters
Dig into the real science behind famous monsters, from vampires and hematophagy (blood feeding) to Frankenstein and electricity.
Want a Halloween night out without the kids? Boneyard Bash is Discovery Place Science's adults-only Halloween edition of Science on the Rocks. It's on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in Uptown Charlotte.

Charlotte has plenty of trick-or-treating and family festivals in October. Fewer Halloween events are made just for grown-ups. Boneyard Bash is one of them: a 21+ night where science meets the supernatural, with every floor of the Museum open after hours.
It's part of Science on the Rocks, Discovery Place Science's monthly 21+ event series. Bring a date, gather your friends or come in costume for an adult Halloween event that's a little different from a typical party.
Dig into the real science behind famous monsters, from vampires and hematophagy (blood feeding) to Frankenstein and electricity.
Explore the Museum's creepy collections and learn about the science and cultural importance of body preservation.
Wear your best costume and monster-mash your way into the costume contest, led by a DJ.
Add the optional Miracle Berry Trick or Treat Taste Tripping experience. It pairs Halloween treats with an experiment designed to trick your taste buds.
If you're planning Halloween things to do for adults, think about the kind of night you want. Some people want a costume party. Others want something to talk about afterward. Boneyard Bash gives you both: come in costume, then learn something strange about the monsters you grew up with.
It's an easy fit for a date night, a group outing or a pre-Halloween celebration in Uptown. And because it's adults-only, you can enjoy the Museum at your own pace.
